The Gospel

How to know for sure that you will go to heaven

Scott Gregson · April 7, 2026 ·

Admit that you are a sinner and that there is a penalty for sin
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) “There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10) “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23)

Believe that Jesus paid the price for your sin because you could never do enough to save yourself
“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…” (Titus 3:5) “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (1 John 5:12)

Call on Jesus to save you from sin’s penalty and know that you can never lose your salvation
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) “These things have I written unto you that believe… that ye may know that ye have eternal life” (1 John 5:13)

Questions About Heaven

Scott Gregson · April 7, 2026 ·

Am I good enough for heaven? Do you think you’re a good person? Most people do. Most try to do what’s right and live a good life. But, as much as we TRY to do good, no one is actually “good” at all, let alone good enough for heaven. We are all guilty of sin. “There is none righteous, no, not one:” (Ro. 3:10) Sin is breaking God’s law: “…sin is the transgression of the law.” (I Jn. 3:4) The Bible says “…there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” (Ecc. 7:20) Not you, not me, not your neighbor, not even the person you most look up to is without sin. (Ro. 3:10, 23; 5:12-14, I Jn. 1:8, Is. 64:6)

Am I too bad for heaven? NO! You aren’t good enough to deserve heaven, but you aren’t too bad to get there. Jesus Christ, God’s son, provided the way to heaven despite our sin. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (Jn. 14:6) The Bible is clear: Jesus fully paid sin’s penalty when He died and rose again. You cannot sin enough to overcome Jesus’ payment. Jesus is merciful and forgiving and His love for us is proven by the reconciliation He made. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Ro. 5:8-9)( Acts 4:2, II Tim. 1:9, I Cor. 6:9-11)

How can I get to heaven? The only way is by Jesus Christ. Realize you cannot earn heaven; believe Jesus died and rose again for your sin; accept His free gift of salvation. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Ro. 10:9-13) (Jn. 3:16-18, Acts 2:21, Eph. 2:8-9)

Are you ready? Jesus offers His payment for your sin as a gift to you. Are you ready to accept this gift today? If you are, then pray to God in confession, repentance, and thanksgiving. It might sound something like this: “Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner and I’m not worthy of Heaven. I’m sorry I’ve disobeyed your law. Please have mercy and redeem me from my sin. I accept your free gift of eternal life. Thank you for paying my debt on the cross and forgiving my sins. Amen.”

If you have received Jesus’ gift today, please let us know. We would love to rejoice with you, and help you figure out your next steps in your relationship with God!

Have you done what you need to do to be saved?

Scott Gregson · April 7, 2026 ·

Does this description of sinfulness from Titus 3:3 sound like you? “…foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving [diverse] lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.” Perhaps you aren’t hateful and don’t begrudge anyone’s wealth, beauty, or success. But, unless you’re deceived, you know you’ve behaved foolishly or disobediently at some point. And this one gets us all: we’re “serving lusts” when we think “I shouldn’t…” but do it anyway. Romans 3:10 says “There is none righteous, no, not one.” God is righteous and must judge sin. Rom. 6:23 says “the wages of sin is death.”

God also loves us and made a way “that he might be just, and the justifier” (Rom. 3:26) of sinners. Titus 3:4 says “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,” Despite our sin, God loves us and took action accordingly. Rom. 5:8 says “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” God sent Jesus “who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.” (Rom. 4:5) Christ justified us by His work on the cross, so our salvation comes “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:5-7)

This free offer of salvation is unique to Christianity. Religions teach you to earn a good afterlife. Perform this; be that; do it well enough, and then…maybe. You can’t be sure, because you mess up a lot. Christianity is not a religion; it’s a faith that the work which Christ completed through His death, burial, and resurrection is solely sufficient for our salvation, that this finished work is offered freely by grace, and that those who trust in Him are “sealed unto the day of redemption.” (Eph. 4:30)

So what do you need to do to be saved? Believe that Jesus Christ has already done it! Do you believe that you are a sinner condemned before God, but that Christ has freely offered salvation to you? Then put your faith solely in Christ’s finished work! Receive His gift of salvation now, and pray to Him thanking Him for His grace!
